Arranging a Funeral

Glen Funerals Arranging a Funeral

Arranging a funeral in Melbourne

Since 2001, Glen Funerals has helped to arrange more than 2,000 funerals in Melbourne and throughout Victoria, so we have a wealth of experience in all aspects of organising a funeral. There can be a lot involved, but we’ll take the stress out of everything, so you don’t have to worry.

There are many things to consider when arranging a funeral and so, we’ve created a unique Personal & Family Record document to record all of your important personal and family details. We recommend that you give at least two additional copies to family members for safekeeping and we can also retain a copy if requested. This is particularly useful in the case of a pre-paid funeral arrangement.

Although not a legally binding document, the Personal & Family Record will assist those making arrangements on your behalf. Glen Funerals recommends a legal will is also made and remains updated to account for changed circumstances.

Eulogy

The life story of your loved one is special but when it comes to presenting a eulogy, some find it an incredibly difficult process. However, we’ve found that with a little help, this process can be made easier:

  • Writing the eulogy begins with information collection. Search through photo albums, sit down and write notes on your memories. Add in some milestones including education, careers, family events etc. Keep it short: 4-8 minutes long (three to seven typed pages).
  • Practice the eulogy aloud and time yourself. Keep the content in good taste and keep it positive. Once you have a eulogy written, walk away from it for a few hours or overnight if possible – the come back and review your eulogy.
  • When it comes to delivering the eulogy during the funeral service, you are more than likely going to be emotional. Don’t be afraid to read word for word. This way you won’t leave out any key points you or others want to be read. Feel free to pause, take a deep breath and drink some water.

    Registering a death

As part of our service, Glen Funerals organises the registration of a death with the Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages Victoria. The certificate is then issued directly to the next of kin within about 10 working days of registration.

A fee is payable for a copy of the actual death certificate as required.

    Audio Visual Presentations

Remembering the life of your loved one in photos and with music can be both a sad but joyful experience as you, your family and friends celebrate and commemorate the life of someone so special.

The progressive story through life’s journey in visual memories, shared experiences and favourite tunes is a fitting tribute and celebration of the life of your loved one.

Glen Funeral’s professional DVD presentation and Audio CD remain a treasured and valued memory, and forms only a part of the superior service offered in the funeral arrangements.
